Kindness Costs Nothing

KINDNESS COSTS NOTHING
"So when you, O man, pass judgment on others, yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? Or do you disregard the riches of His kindness, tolerance, and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you to repentance? But because of your heart and your unrepentance, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed..." (Rom. 2:3-5).
When you dwell on kindness, what comes to your mind? An encouraging phone call from a friend? A caring shoulder to lean on? Or perhaps your mom's apple pie fresh from the oven? Whatever you think about, it most likely involves a warm tingling feeling. Kindness just causes that. No wonder it's a fruit of the Spirit. When we're kind, others experience that warmth, and whether they're are aware of it or not they're experiencing some of God's character.
Kindness is a mindset, but it also flows deeper. It is also a driven
motive. We can perform service out of a motive that isn't genuine. We can appear kind although we want something from someone, but, at the same time, can also demonstrate kindness because that is what inspire us as a person; it is part of who we fundamentally are. Bottom line, service requires nothing in return.
Kindness is satisfied, and less costly if it is expressed more instinctively. Kindness is really about adjusting into the need of another and putting that need at the forefront of your concern. Service doesn't need to adapt to all needs, but it does mean genuinely doing the little things, doing what you can to "encourage" the other person. Kindness is about having compassion, and also about "giving" a sign of help or support to someone else.
