AN IDENTITY CRISIS
There is an identity crisis among many believers which explains the reason for all the up and downs, sad and happy moments, fear and doubts and valley and mountaintop experiences that we go through. Remember the Scriptures say, "Let this mind be in you all, which was also in Christ" (Philippians 2:5).
The real problem is that we allow other people to determine our worth and our identity. Other individuals who judge you have no clue of the challenge that Father has entrusted to you. Your problems reveal what's in your own heart. The greater sadness of this situation is that, instead of reflecting light to people, we lash out at them in the midst of our identity crisis.
The truth of the matter, God created humanity to have unique characteristics and purpose. However, He intended us all to have a commonality of contentment with our lives through His will. This is when we discover our true identity the more we allow ourselves to draw closer to Him.
Why we can't, we find fulfillment in ourselves since we are in Christ? We are created to reflect the glory of God, and, because the primary goal in seeking an identity outside of Christ is to bring glory to ourselves, we will never find lasting fulfillment apart from Him.
Praise God that He loves us so much to take our broken, rebellious hearts and because of the sacrifice of His beloved Son, offers us a new identity in Christ. Let's not accept anything less.
